New!

Hello All!!
I have been very busy this past week:) First off, I made my first diaper!!!! I bought this SUPER SWEET pattern from kidsinthegarden.com along with the fabrics I needed and I am pretty happy with the results! It's a pocket diaper (which are my personal favorite) made with PUL waterproof fabric and suedecloth. Then, I took the leftover PUL fabric and put together my first-ever wet bag! These bad boys are SO useful. Not only are they great for dirty diapers--they are perfect for wet bathing suits, muddy clothes, or even poolside snacks! Here's a great tutorial for those interested in making their own--http://littlebirdiesecrets.blogspot.com/2009/05/wet-bag-tutorial.html. Finally, this morning I whipped up a reusable snack bag (think fabric ziploc). This little bag was quite easy to make and I even put it to use just this afternoon:) We seem to fly through plastic bags in this house and I thought using these would cut down on our waste AND our grocery bills. Hey, every little bit counts, right?!

First Post!!!

So after much thought I have FINALLY decided to start my own blog! I kept going back and forth on whether I should do a strictly sewing blog or a strictly family blog and then I realized...why not do both at the same time?? Since a lot of the sewing I do is for my family it just makes sense. So here we go!!!

Last night I made a pillowcase dress for my friend Melissa's niece and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I love sewing these cute little dresses not only because they are simple to make, but also because they are SO versatile! What starts out as a dress for a two year old turns into a tunic at three and a shirt at four. Name me one other article of clothing a toddler can wear that long!!! Any of us that have kids can appreciate that!
After I finished the dress I made this SUPER CUTE reversible tote bag. I've been wanting to make my own bags for grocery shopping (especially since Brandon told me if I bought another "green bag" he may file for divorce--hahahaha!) and this pattern was the perfect fit. I'm thinking about whipping up a bunch of these to start selling on my etsy site once I get it up and running again.
Well...off to watch So You Think You Can Dance! I'll be blogging again soon:)
